Platinum Steel Trading (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of the Steel Services Group was founded in 2018 by Martha Mekgoe, the Managing Director and 51% shareholder, along with her business partner Lawrence Bartlett CEO of the Steel Services Group.
Martha identified an opportunity to facilitate sustainable transformation within her local community by creating a meaningful partnership between the Bafokeng Platinum Mine, and the Steel Services Group. This resulted in the formation of Platinum Steel Trading. This collaborative business model ensures that the Bafokeng Platinum Mine fulfills their obligation to the South African Mining Charters BEE commitment.

Our focus will be on steel fabrication and conveyer belt installations for the local mining sector, where we are part of the mines collaborative business model. Sub categories will include civil and mechanical ventures in the renewable energy sectors as well as in the industrial development sphere.
